Vintage 2021
A vintage that required a lot of work and attention, with an exceptionally intense spring frost on 8th of April, followed by a particularly rainy summer, which led to difficulties in ripening the grapes, low alcoholic degrees, and low phenolic ripeness. The contrast with the previous vintage, 2020, which was an early and sunny vintage, is very marked: 2021 is much finer, with freshness and finesse.
Winemaking
Hand-picked, de-stemmed, crushed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, long macerations of one month, with delestages at the beginning of fermentation, then gentle pigeage and bâtonnage under marc at the end of fermentation, for a gentle extraction and fine and round tannins. The wine is racked into 600-litre demi-muid barrels, and into second-hand 228-litre barrels to coat the tannins without adding woody aromas.
