Thanks to the pyramidal shape of the structure supporting the nacelle, the stresses are better distributed and the ratio measuring the weight of the structure on the installed capacity is lower than 200tons/MW.
The use of shipbuilding techniques with thin steel panels ease the manufacturing process leading to a cheap fabrication cost. The combination of a light and easy to build structure makes the Eolink solution very competitive.
The concept has been tested in real sea environment in 2018 and 2019 and will be further validated with a 5MW unit deployed off Le Croisic, France from 2024 onwards.
