Company
Avel is a composite part supplier. Avel designs and produces high-performance composite parts through AFP technology (Automated Fiber Placement).
Avel robotics is the first company worldwide to manufacture hydrofoils for competitive sailing boats using additive manufacturing processes (AFP for Automated Fiber Placement).
Our company has built a solid reputation after years of research and development in the additive manufacturing of high-performance carbon fiber parts, which is a revolutionary approach for the nautical industry.
Our first and primary market is the production of foils, rudders and other appendages for racing boats such as IMOCA or ULTIM classes. Our ocean-racing customers are constantly searching for enhanced performance solutions; they trust Avel robotics to design parts that will be exposed to the harshest environments.
Round-the-world proof of concept
Our customers have sailed across all oceans using Avel robotics parts.
Automated Fiber Placement and digitization
Avel robotics specializes in additive manufacturing and digital solutions that bring accuracy, superior quality, standardization and speed of execution in the industrial process.
The mechanical properties are therefore perfectly replicable.
Another advantage of A.F.P layup is the reduction of scrapped fabric materials versus traditional layup techniques. Avel process only requires half of the materials used by other carbon part manufacturers.
Beyond ocean racing
Avel robotics’ secondary markets is the naval industry: we are aboard the “Solid Sail” 70 meters mast project together with Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
The automated layup of composites through AFP process is growing in the aviation industry, particularly for wings and engine fairings manufacturing. Avel robotics is partnering with customers with the highest reliability and time-to-market expectations in France and abroad.
Avel is located in Lorient, the heart of the sailing valley.
